Agile Project Management and business success for startup

The Problem

A Canadian startup was developing a mobile application. The company has a small team of five members, and were struggling with several challenges: The team had been working on the application for several months, but they had not been able to launch it due to technical issues and lack of coordination among team members. The team members themselves were overwhelmed with tasks and finding it difficult to prioritize their work effectively. The company was also struggling with setting up its business processes and managing its finances.

The Solution

After attending the transformative 2hr Venture Velocity Workshop, the company decided to adopt agile project management practices. Here’s how they did it:

  1. Conducted a Project Assessment: The team conducted an assessment of the current project and identified the key challenges. They used this information to prioritize tasks and determine which tasks were essential to the project’s success.
  2. Defined Roles and Responsibilities: The team identified each team member’s roles and responsibilities and established clear communication channels to ensure that everyone was on the same page.
  3. Adopted Agile Methodologies: The team adopted agile methodologies to manage their project more efficiently. They established a product backlog and used sprints to organize their work into manageable units. They also held daily stand-up meetings to monitor progress and identify any potential roadblocks.
  4. Established Business Processes: The team established a set of business processes to manage their finances and set up their business. They developed a budget and established a system for tracking expenses, revenue, and cash flow.
  5. Monitored Progress: The team monitored their progress regularly using metrics such as burn-down charts to track their progress against their goals.

By adopting the practices learnt during the Venture Velocity Workshop they were able to address their challenges and achieve the following results:
